STPCon Registration & Information Desk

Please plan on checking in and picking up your conference materials at our on-site registration desk, located on the 2nd Floor Foyer of the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor Hotel – look for our signs directing you there. The registration desk is open during the following hours:

Monday – 9/23 – 7:30am – 4:30pm
Tuesday – 9/24 – 7:30am – 4:00pm
Wednesday – 9/25 – 7:30am – 5:00pm
Thursday – 9/26 – 7:30am – 4:30pm
Note: For those participating in the ISTQB Certification Course starting on Sunday, September 22nd, the registration desk will be located on the second floor above the lobby on Sunday only.

Workshop Requirements

Workshop Requirements and/or Prerequisites

There are a few workshops and certification courses that may require pre-reading, configurations and installation of software to participate. If you are registered for certification or planning on attending the workshops below, please take time to review the following workshop requirements.

Setup Instructions for Automated Visual Testing Workshop - Angie Jones

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL

Java 8 or greater (JDK): http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Note: The entire workshop will be done in Java

Chrome Browser: https://www.google.com/chrome/

Chromedriver: http://chromedriver.chromium.org/downloads (download the corresponding one for your Chrome Browser version)

An Integrated Development Environment (IDE) of your choice. My recommendation is the Community version of IntelliJ

 

CONFIGURE

Download and unzip the file, project.zip into a directory where you’d like to keep this workshop.

 

In IntelliJ, import downloaded project:

  • Click Import Project
  • Browse to downloaded project folder, bookstore, and select the pom.xml file under there
  • Click Open
  • On the shown panel, ensure that “Import Maven projects automatically” is checked
  • Click Next
  • Click Next on all subsequent panels
  • Click Finish on the final panel

OR

In Eclipse, import downloaded project:

  • File -> Import -> Maven -> Existing Maven Projects -> Next
  • Browse to downloaded project folder, advanced-automation, and select "project" folder under there
  • Click Open
  • Ensure pom.xml is checked
  • Click Finish

 

Add chromedriver to the project

  • Unzip the downloaded chromedriver zip file
  • Move the executable file to your project location under the resources folder inside of the project

      Customize resources/test.properties file

  • If on Windows, change resources/chromedriver to resources/chromedriver.exe
  • Change the value of app.url to the location where your index.html file is
  • Create a free Applitools account, copy your API key, and paste it as the value for applitools.api.key

 

TEST YOUR SETUP

  • From inside of your IDE, navigate within the Project to src->test->java->search->SearchTests
  • Right-click on the class and choose to run
  • If you can run the class without error, then you’re all set! 

 

If you get stuck at any point, no worries! We'll make sure everyone is good to go during the workshop.

 

Workshop Setup: Test Automation with Postman - Joyce Lin
  1. Download the Postman app for Mac, Windows, or Linux. Make sure you have a Postman account, and you're logged in.
  2. To run Newman, download and install Node.js, and then install Newman. This step is optional.
ISTQB Test Engineering Foundation Level Training

If you are taking the ISTQB Test Engineering Foundation Level Training Course and plan on taking the certification exam on-site at STPCon, the exam will take place in Constitution on Wednesday, September 25th @ 10:30am EST. The room will open at 10am and we recommend arriving to the room by 10:15am to prepare yourself for the exam. If you are taking the ISTQB Training Course but are unable or do not want to take the exam on-site, you can request a voucher that will allow you to schedule your exam at a later date and location. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your ISTQB Training Course or the certification exam, please email info@softwaretestpro.com.

STPCon Boston Harbor Cruise

Meet & Greet Boston Harbor Cruise!

It’s our 10th Birthday, and well, we want to take a ride on a boat! Join us for a very special Meet & Greet Reception as we embark on a cruise ship around the Boston Harbor! This is a great way to meet the STPCon speakers and network with your peers, while enjoying the beautiful downtown Boston skyline from the water.

The cruise includes a selection of beers and wines, and light hors d’oeuvres. The cruise ship will pick up all passengers at 4:30PM SHARP from the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor Dock, located directly behind the hotel on the water. DO NOT BE LATE – once the boat leaves the dock, there is no returning till the end of the cruise at 6:45pm.

The harbor cruise is INCLUDED with all STPCon and Certification registrations, however, space on the boat is limited. RESERVE YOUR SPOT NOW!

Arriving at Boston International Airport BOS - STPCon

Arriving in Boston, MA

More than likely you will be arriving at the Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). When arriving, there are a couple of options for transportation to the hotel. The most common, and the easiest, is the free shuttle directly from the airport to the Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor Hotel. There are also Taxi Cabs, Uber & Lyft.

  • The Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor provides guests with a 24-hour complimentary “on demand” airport shuttle to and from major Logan International Airport.
  • When arriving, retrieved your luggage then call 617.568.1234 to request 24hr Boston Logan Airport Shuttle. When you call, please specify which airline you arrived on.
  • The shuttle bus is marked “Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor”and will pick you up curbside near your terminal.
  • Your ride will take only about 5 minutes and you will arrive at the front door of the Hotel.

Parking at STPCon Fall 2018

Parking available on-site in an outdoor, uncovered lot. Enjoy unlimited in/out privileges at our Logan Airport Hyatt hotel. You MUST be a registered guest in the hotel or attending a function at the hotel to park in the hotel parking lot. STPCon Attendees will receive a 25% discount on self-parking rates.

On-site self parking fee: $46 USD daily for STPCon Attendees. Validation at the STPCon Registration Desk on the 2nd Floor Foyer is available.

What TO Wear - STPCon

Recommended Attire – What to Pack

All attendees are encouraged to dress business casual. Hotel meeting rooms are generally kept a little cool, so a sweater or light jacket can be useful during the workshops and sessions.

STPCon Meet & Greet Reception – Tuesday, September 24th – 4:30-6:45pm: Attire for the reception is business casual but a light jacket is recommended – we are on a boat! The reception will be held on the Boston Elite Harbor Cruise Ship [You must RSVP to attend].

STPCon Welcome Reception & Sponsor Showcase – Wednesday September 25th – 5-7pm: Attire for the reception is business casual. The reception will be held  in the Harborside Pavilion. Based on average temperatures, a light jacket may be nice to have.

Weather During STPCon

The weather on the Boston Harbor during STPCon is expected to be pretty mild.  Please check the extended forecast before leaving your home to gain an idea of what to expect. Historically, the average highs are in the high 60’s to low 70’s and lows are in the mid 40’s.
