The year was 2009. It was a time of new beginnings and memorable events. Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44thPresident of the United States, becoming the first African-American to hold the title. Mobile phone technology began to use the 3G network. The world was shocked with the news that Michael Jackson died unexpectedly. US Airways Flight 1549 made a successful crash landing in the Hudson River thanks to the efforts of Captain Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger.
In this same year, STPCon was born. This would lead the path for a growing conference, a webinar program, STPRadio, and a growing list of new speakers in the testing community.
The world has changed a lot over the past 10 years. Technology is thriving. Teams have moved from waterfall to agile & DevOps. Project dynamics are evolving. The concept of “shift left” moves from “good to have” to “required” in order to engage QA with the project earlier. The role of the tester has changed as well.
In this keynote, we will discuss how the testing community has evolved over the last decade, how STPCon has contributed to the evolution, and the critical elements to being a successful QA team in the future.
